Why L-Theanine for Skin?

L-Theanine, an amino acid found naturally in green tea leaves, is best known for its calming effects on the nervous system. Research shows it can help reduce stress and cortisol levels, which in turn may lessen the severity of stress-induced skin concerns such as breakouts, redness, and irritation (1,2).

Stress is a major factor in skin health—elevated cortisol can increase oil production and inflammation, worsening acne and compromising the skin barrier (3). By promoting a relaxed state, L-theanine indirectly supports balanced sebum production, reduced sensitivity, and improved skin resilience (4).

In addition, L-theanine possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, further helping to protect the skin from oxidative stress and irritation (5).

Why a Patch?

While L-theanine is often consumed orally, delivering it via a patch provides steady, sustained absorption, bypassing the digestive system for potentially more consistent results (6).

A patch also allows targeted daily support for individuals prone to stress-related skin flare-ups, offering a discreet, easy-to-use solution for skin calmness and balance.

Backed by Science

  • L-Theanine reduces stress and cortisol levels, supporting systemic calm (1,2).
  • Stress and cortisol dysregulation contribute to acne and skin barrier impairment (3).
  • L-Theanine has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may benefit skin (4,5).
  • Transdermal patches enable controlled release and improved bioavailability compared to oral delivery (6,7).
